The sun was streaming through the stained glass this morning, golding the pews and softening the russet tones of the brickwork in Church. It was beautiful. Spring is here!

Prayer, almsgiving and fasting: so goes the phrase that encapsulates what we try to do in Lent. Plenty of opportunity for all three in the newsletter this week. Don’t forget, though, if you fall down on any of them, you just get back up and keep on trying!

Evidence of powerful prayer this week: see the thanks at the foot of our sick list as evidence! As Lent progresses, we take the time to reflect, make the effort to help those less fortunate, and offer up those little sacrifices we make. Support comes from Saint Mother Teresa’s words.

Lent begins this week: a time of reflection, a time of spiritual preparation and a time for doing that little extra to support those in need of our care. How about the Stations of the Cross and Mass each week: just two of the opportunities available in Church, with more to come as the weeks gallop past.

We offer a formal welcome to Fr. David this week as our Parish Priest. His induction ceremony will be celebrated by Mgr. Faley on Tuesday. It’s an opportunity for the parish and the wider community to show how pleased we are that Fr. David has come to work with us and to look forward to the many ventures we will share in the future, working together to spread the Good News.
Looking ahead seems to be a theme in this week’s newsletter: plans for Lent; plans for Holy Week; plans for new careers. See what we mean by clicking on the link below. Thanks for popping by.

The three magi have moved on, having seen the Messiah and now viewing the world from a different perspective. At Church, our three kings and the rest of the nativity scene have been put away for another year, but the searching and exploring by those enquiring about the Catholic Faith has just begun in our Jouney to Easter starting this week. Will their’s be a gradual epiphany, like the magi’s? Time till tell. More news on the newsletter which can be read by clicking on the link. Thanks for popping by…
