Our parish has a lovely and historical church hall, which is available for hire as well as for groups within the parish and deanery.
The hall can comfortably seat 40 people at tables, or more if only an auditorium is required. There is a screen and audio equipment available at all times, and computer projection equipment can be available upon request.
The kitchen is equipped to handle catering of all kinds from a cup of tea and a biscuit to full meals.
The hall has been used in the past for receptions after baptisms and funerals as well as by interest groups from the neighbourhood.
The central location of the hall makes it useful for organisations inviting people from a wide catchment, as the metro and bus interchange is only two minutes walk away.
The church hall was once the reception class of our St. Mary’s Catholic Infants’ School, which was the first of the buildings erected in the parish. Many senior members of the parish have fond memories of being read stories by the roaring coal fire in the room, the traces of which can be seen in the brickwork. When our new school on Station Road was built, most of the old building was demolished, leaving only this hall to be adapted to become a hub of our parish social life.
